I just have to post this - it would be shame not to:
Despite living less than 60 miles from Providence (along the eastern CT coast), I had not been downtown in 7 or 8 years.
Yesterday we went to Providence Place, shopped at the mall, went to a sidewalk restaurant, walked around downtown and Waterside Park. The whole day was PERFECT, Providence Place has to be one of the nicest malls in a downtown area on the East Coast. Waterside Park was a beauty on this mid-summer day with cobalt blue skies and temps in the upper 70's F - people were strolling, eating at sidewalk cafes, sunning themselves on the grass, there appeared to be some type of boat tours going up/down the waterway…etc. The area was clean, neat, and not the typical congested over-crowed urban outing that ruins so many city trips (with none of the trash, bums, or ruffians often typical of the urban core). We had more fun and a
relaxing day in Providence yesterday than in Boston last month or San Francisco back in May.
Keep it up Providence, you’re looking good.
