Relax. Those on Medicare aren't impacted at all.

Folks, let's not make the assumption that everyone needs or can afford some of the things that are now mandatory under the ACA. To h#$% with the person who doesn't want to pay extra for contraceptive coverage! This is highway robbery, and Obama and the insurers are laughing all the way to the bank after having duped us. He is a liar, a coward, and is not fit to be dog catcher.

So, people who don't have children shouldn't pay for public educations, right? And people who don't fly shouldn't pay for the FAA, right? And people who don't use national parks shouldn't pay for the Department of the Interior, right? Where does this "government a la carte" end?

We have something called "elections." Guess who won? If you don't like the law, overturn it (fat chance), or move to Iran -- that's my advice. I hate to see people unhappy.

Tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders who lack insurance will be covered under the ACA. That's a good thing.

Sure, keep evading the question by changing the topic. Why are you linking me to material from 1968?? Public assistance programs have changed a lot since then, with limits on how long people can stay on them, requirements for recipients to work, etc.

Poor people didn't bring down the economy in 2008. Poor people don't work on Wall Street. Poor people didn't keep wages stagnant or ship jobs overseas.

And how about the entitlements that are really costing us the big bucks? Our never ending need to be at war so the military contractors get paid. Is that the fault of poor people too? Or how about farm subsidies and bank bailouts, or all the cheap money that banks get?

You really think that somehow poor people hold all this power? The power brokers love your naivete. Much easier to rob you blind if you're looking to blame poor people instead of following the money.

Impeachment on which grounds?

And ha ha to "socialist dictator". If he was a socialist, he would have supported universal health care, not a system that benefits capitalistic insurance companies.

To add to your comment; Obama has faced the worst possible political atmosphere from Day One- an extreme right wing faction that has opposed and sabotaged very single initiative he has put forth. I can't remember any other President who has been so viciously impeded and lied about.

I think it's too bad he gave the crappy insurance policies even another year. They had plenty of time to change their game and chose not to. Corporations and their enormous money (and by extension big military) run our country- social reform and the health & welfare of the people is near the bottom. It's down there now with jobs for the peons and the crumbling infrastructure. Social Security and Medicare are legacies- they would never be passed by today's Congress.

Not to ignore the RI slant to this thread, no one has had their health insurance canceled in this state because BCBS is prohibited from doing so by our state regulations. And that's the only reason. Let's hope our state refuses to cave on their annual demands for more money.
