The only provider listed in the "marketplace" is Blue Cross/Blue Shield. That's a marketplace?
I found it a little strange. Put in single, $30,000 and the deductible for the least expensive policy was $6300. Put in single, $40,000 and the deductible for the same policy was $5800.
Those are not affordable deductibles!
Monthly premium was 155 and change to 167 and change I think the higher rate was.
Opt out and pay the fine of $100 or so. Why be a pawn, sign up if you need the coverage, there are no pre-existing conditions. The young healthy people should NOT be subsidizing others, it's ridiculous. Everything should be fair across the board and above board. The poor get free healthcare now; go stand in line at a hospital E.R. behind someone indigent, or an illegal for example ... you're already paying for their healthcare. Hospitals don't turn anyone away for lack of funds.
The ACA is nothing but a sham forced upon the taxpayers and the young people.
California's health insurance exchange vastly overstated the number of online hits it received Tuesday during the rollout of Obamacare.
State officials said the Covered California website got 645,000 hits during the first day of enrollment, far fewer than the 5 million it reported Tuesday.
The state exchange had cited the 5 million figure as a sign of strong consumer interest and a major reason people had so much difficulty using its $313-million online enrollment system.
Dana Howard, a spokesman for Covered California, said the error was the result of internal miscommunication.
"Someone misspoke and thought it was indeed 5 million hits. That was incorrect," he said.

That's not health care. The ER is not equipped or designed to deal with providing long-term care for, say, cancer or diabetes. Or preventive care. Every industrialized nation has a form of national health care -- it's about time the US stepped out of the dark ages. Thank God for President Obama and the Democratic Party for their wisdom and courage!
Also, you understand that the policies available on the exchange are being offered exclusivelyby private, for profit, companies - right? So these aren't Govt. Healthcare plans. (Heaven forbid we all get Medicare, which Seniors loooooooove!)
It's nothing but a big ploy to enrich the HMOs/insurance companies (who are huge donors to Obama and the democrats). Other that a few needed features such as not being penalized for pre-existing conditions, our level of care (and bottom line) can only get worse through this catastrophe.

That the US hasn't had some sort of universal health care like almost every other first world country has been its shame. Decent, affordable health care should have been the bottom line years ago. Jamming the poor and uninsured into crowded emergency rooms never made any sense from a human or economic point.
The ONLY way the system will work is if everybody shares the responsibility. It may be difficult, but the young and healthy need understand they won't be that way forever. And when they need good health care, down the road (before 65) it will now be there for them. In the end, the focus on and availability of quality preventive care should save us all money.
Despite conservative objections, the Affordable Care Act is here to stay; just like Social Security, Medicare, the Civil Rights Acts, Women's vote, End of Slavery and every other social advance that seems to have come harder for our country than many others in the first world. Civilization moves forward!

You know, I agree - those aren't very affordable deductibles. But they're a walk in the park compared to the tens of thousands you'd owe if you needed to be hospitalized. That's the leading cause of bankruptcy in this country.
Just went through the site and entered income #'s... as a test...
what a joke.. as a single person if you earned less than 133% poverty
level 2013 : 15,281.70, you get free welfare care with no deductible.
If you earn over that # you pay $200s per month for plan with deductible
around 5,000 or $300s per month for low hundreds deductible.
Tell me there's not an incentive to eschew work, or make that work
within lower income limits. This system is just one more incentive
for people to get on the dole as lifetime wards of the state.
Or to conceal their earnings via accounting tricks.

Huge difference, this is the United States of America. Nursing homes are full of indigent patients, they ARE being treated.

THE ONLY FREE COUNTRY ON EARTH. Wise up.
Huh? You stated that we already have health care in this country and it's called the Emergency Room. As I proved, that's not health care: ER's don't managed diabetes nor provide ongoing course treatment of cancer, nor provide preventive care, which is a huge cost saver and extender of lives.
And ER's, while "free" to poor people, have a cost, and these costs are passed on to all of us who do have insurance. What, you think some magic fairy pays these costs?

When you have 16 different plan choices where before you had none? Yeah, that's a marketplace guy.
And by all means opt out. By like year three of this thing opting out is going to cost you just as much as getting health insurance.
And we all love paying out the tax money when you take the more expensive route and end up in the Emergency Room for your Primary Care.
It was Bob Dole, Mitt Romney, and the Heritage Foundation that came up with this whole idea. It's funny how when Obama implements it all the Teabags are suddenly against it.
