No sir, the actual correct answer was guessed on the second try. Newport HAS the highest paid "mayor" in RI. There is no gray area here, it is indisputable. The OP even admitted his lack of knowledge of RI and of local government structure. It was a poorly worded poll (for what seem to be it's intent anyway). No reason to mock those who are just pointing out the facts.

True; Braintree, MA calls itself a "town" but has a mayor and city form of government. None of the towns listed in the poll however, have a mayor. They are all true "towns" with a town council/selectmen setup and a town manger or administrator. Totally different animal. The poll also did ask "which city".
