So last year at this time my partner and I were going out of our minds trying to get out of Houston! I ran across a position for him up here in Rhode Island....he said where is it (He is Korean)...lol. In February we were up here for 4 days looking for an apartment. As we sat at TF Green Airport on our way back to Houston we were talking about our 4 days in Rhode Island and we both said at the time....I think we should buy. We moved and I have made more friends.....had more discussions with completely diverse and wonderful people here in Rhode Island than I could have ever imagined! Have had fantastic foods (bakeries omg and seafood). The weather is a perfect 4 seasons. Pride was way cooler than we thought! Summer was beautiful. Our ability to go to Boston and NYC on a whim is a dream come true. The coast! Can't say enough about the coast and the countless miles of roads I've driven...seeing the natural beauty and the historic beauty.
We are closing on a condo on Jan 8th and for the first time in my life (have lived many many places on three continents) have finally found home. I love the people here...they are real and so human. Thanks 2014 and Rhode Island!

We go to the Newport area every October for one week.........we are from NYC, and feel the same as you do. The people are great, and so is the scenery..........Rhode Island would be proud to have you and yours, as residents........

You touch on a lot of things I love about this state, too. Great post -- I'm really happy for you. And I believe you're the guy who took some of the best photos of Providence I've ever seen, so I encourage you to keep at that!

As a couple who have been around a bit, it's so good to hear of your love affair with RI. Let's hope it grows as the years go by. Rhoady seems to have touched on most of your desires in a place to call home. I can't say I disagree with any of them. Good luck on your new condo and may our state continue to impress you!
We planned on staying in Providence, but felt we should at least look at one condo outside. So we booked a showing in the Oaklawn area of Cranston, telling our realtor...don't hold your breath. The condo is in great shape and centrally located, my partner works at URI Bay Campus and I work downtown Providence (3 bus routes). So we grabbed it. It seems very peaceful out there and we shop out there anyway....lol.
