Hey Everyone,

My wife and I are relocating from Cincinnati in the summer and are looking for some neighborhood suggestions. We're in our late 20's and have 2 dogs. We're looking for a walkable neighborhood that has a decent amount of restaurants and bars to walk to. We're going to head up in the spring to check out some neighborhoods but would like your feedback.

we're not too picky on space. We are looking to rent for a little bit before we jump in with a purchase. Budget doesn't seem like it will keep us out of many neighborhoods with out budget around $1,500. What do you all think? And thanks in advance!

Pawtuxet Village if your budget permits.

Issue willl be your dogs. Not too many rentals that allow pets.

She'll be at Brown and I'll be working out of our home so the commute won't be an issue for me.

Then I would also say Pawtuxet Village, or Bristol if you're willing to go a little further.

Hi Jakes!

Congrats I the pending relocation! RI has so many types of n'hoods that will fit pretty much every lifestyle. Can you tell us a bit about what you're looking for in a place to live? Metro/burbs/town, walkable, public transport, arts scene, beach town, etcetera... I'm a providence guy myself but I have friends that live in pretty much all parts of the state.

Two dogs are definitely an issue. I'd look in Rumford, Riverside (both in city of East Providence), the east side of Providence avoiding the Hope neighborhood between North Main and around Camp St, Pawtuxet Village in Warwick, Edgewood (Cranston), Elmhurst in Providence. All would be a reasonable commute to Brown.

Suggest you look at RIPTA bus routes for your wife since parking is limited to non existent at Brown. Downtown Providence or Federal Hill also a probable- but 2 dogs not easy.

Since 2 dogs will probably only be accepted in less desirable apts- you may need to look at either less desirable areas or more rural spots- or up your budget- just offer more than asking.

Thanks for the response Pvdjames. At the moment we'd like to be in town if possible. Walkable to bars, restaurants, parks and the like. Being in the water wouldn't be bad either. Easy access to public transit would be ideal. We are really just looking to immerse ourselves in the New England culture.

I understand that the burbs have their things to offer as well as we've both grown up in burbs but went to urban campus' for college and just really like the walkability (is that a word?) that urban living brings. Arts scene isn't a deal breaker for us. We're open to opening our budget for the right neighborhood. She want's a "cute neighborhood" if that makes sense. Something with a little charm.
