Hi All, I'm just wondering which Providence suburbs are considered the most exclusive and prestigious. I'll be living in the city for two months, and I'm just curious.

Touisset Point, in Warren, RI.
Most people are not even aware of it!
Even those who grew up and have lived their entire lives in RI!

While Touisset may be a charming place, Warren is not generally considered one of the most exclusive suburbs of Providence.
Per the following ( Income Tax Statistics by ZIP Code )
the Average Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for Warren (zip code=02885) is $48,047. It is $113,850. in neighboring Barrington (zip code=02806)

Thanks for the replies. Are Newport and Jamestown still considered exclusive/prime places to live, or does that really just apply to those who have a second home there?

jamestown and newport
they're still "prime", but this is rhode island and Jamestown's about a half hour to providence and newport's about 40 minutes. too far away in this tiny state to be considered a providence suburb!

Newport's a strange bird. It is a playground for the ultra-rich, but unless you're already in this clique by family or marriage (i.e. your name is Slocum, Pell, or Auchincloss), you're not getting in (actually, there are two exclusive Newport worlds: the old money reactionaries and the new money wannabes, but that's a different story). This rarefied air is a world unto itself and though it is physically in the Ocean State, it is completely separate. Most everyone else in Newport is just staff/support people/every day folks and, ironically, the Newport address amongst real Rhode Islanders isn't necessarily prestigious.

When I was a kid, Slater Avenue was the prime address to live on on the East Side, Blackstone Blvd and Angell Ave being too public to be exclusive. Is it still that way?
