Wonder if anyone can offer any info up on Naptree Point? I tried to find online if open to the public or only town's people. Wondering how to access the road is it all sand do you need a 4x4 to get there? Does it cost anything to go? Is it worth the trip down can you swim? Is it a crowded beach? Heard there is a really awesome abandoned fort a mile walk on the beach want to check out. Appreciate the feedback.
The part of the beach adjacent to the bathhouses is private. You can hike over a sand dune behind the bathhouses and get to the public part, which is one of the best yet most secluded spots in the state. There is no access road; it's all on foot from the parking lot. If you go on a weekend, go early as parking gets full quickly.
Also, if you want to get to the fort, walk along the southern side of the point. The center is closed off for plover habitat, and if you stay on the north side of the closed area you can't get all the way to the fort.

There are no vehicles allowed at Napatree Point. You must park in the village of Watch Hill where there is limited free parking which has time constraints as well as for pay parking. You then walk out past the Watch Hill Yacht Club through the private beach parking lots along the harbor edge. There is then a path at the end of the lot which leads you over the dunes. It is not easy to get to but it is beautiful and unspoiled once you get there. You can swim but the area has no lifeguards. You will likely have a large stretch of beach to yourself except for occasional walkers. There are no fees to access the beach itself as there are no facilities of any kind. Do not walk back to Watch Hill center via the shore by the private beaches. There is no access to the road as there are barriers. You must exit the same way you entered.
