The OP said East Greenwich. Warren would be kind of ugly doing that drive every day at normal commuting hours.

OP was open to anywhere in the state, but preferred to be in South County. At least, that's what I remember.

Anywoo, you are absolutely right, a rush hour commute between Warren and Greenwich would be pure torture.

I think that depends on your tolerance for pain. I checked Google Maps, and apparently if you leave Warren at 8 a.m. heading for East Greenwich, commute times vary from 35 to 55 minutes. Even that upper limit, 55 minutes, is within the range of what some people consider a reasonable commute. I certainly wouldn't consider it ideal, but it's not impossible depending on what you're willing to endure.

Finding a single family home for under $1000 is ambitious. I think the OP should be a bit more realistic about renting an apartment rather than a house.

In Warren, you can easily rent a very decent 2BR/1BA home for $1,000 or less.
