Nashville has many redeeming qualities to go along with the high crime rate (which I actually hear has come way down lately). Woonsocket has none.
Stadium Theater
Chan's, one of the best jazz clubs in the region
Mount St. Charles hockey
Museum of Work & Culture
Headquarters of a Fortune 500 company
Beautiful Victorians in the North End and along South Main Street
B'nai Israel's Modernist stained glass windows
Waterfalls
A beach!!
Possibly commuter rail in the next decade or two
No one is saying it's Nashville, but it's not the monolithic slum you suggest it is, either. It's simply a different place, as anywhere that isn't Nashville is going to be. And the crime rate in Nashville, while down, is still nearly double the "crime index" of Woonsocket (as of 2011, the latest year of stats on City-Data).

I didn't mention it because of course it's not there yet. But I recall seeing this in the RIDOT rail plan. I think it will happen, and that will be a boost for the city.
I still haven't made it to Chan's to see jazz, but I hear that's the spot in Rhode Island.

Reason: RIDOT, not RIPTA!
Bless your heart, you just keep right on thinking that I'm jealous.
Holly, just admit it - you're jealous that you don't know about bowling alleys and restaurants that haven't been in existence for 30 years; you know in your heart that this gap in your knowledge is holding you back from being able to help posters looking to relocate to RI today! Admit it and let it go! You'll feel better.

Waterfalls? yes, man made, because the water used to power a mill or two from the Blackstone River. You could say the same thing about the 'waterfall' in the City of Pawtucket; same Blackstone River, it ran the mill. There are 'waterfalls' all along the Blackstone River in RI, in the mill towns.
A beach ? you can't be serious. Don't lead the people on, that list is far-fetched.
Fortune 500 co. ? Sure, CVS; the company that every so often threatens to move its headquarters out of RI.

It was a good list.
Man made or not, the waterfalls are a point of interest and are scenic. Is the beauty on a scale with some of the famous waterfalls? No. But they're still of interest. One of the Blackstone falls in Lincoln Woods served as scenery for a shot in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, so the falls must have some visual interest. And yes, you can say the same thing about waterfalls in Pawtucket.
As to CVS, they have threatened to move out of the country, not just the state, due to US tax rates. So what? Many big companies play this game. How is that reflective of Woonsocket?
