Has anyone taken surf lessons as an adult in RI? If so where do you go? I'm thinking of doing a surf camp this summer and would like to know if anyone has taken lessons and if so how did it go. TIA
Before we moved to Rhode Island, we thought we were going to end up in Los Angeles, and my wife got excited about the idea of surfing. So on her first birthday here, I got her two surfing lessons from Rhody Surf, which operates out of Second Beach in Middletown. She thought she needed more but noticed Peter Pan in Narragansett was cheaper, so she continued with them.
Bottom line, she recommends Peter Pan. She says that not only is it less expensive, it's more casual and they encourage you to do more of the work yourself. After a Rhody Surf lesson, she got the feeling that she'd accomplished more, but when she thought about it, she realized that was because they kept steering her and pushing her on the board, which didn't really help her learn. Peter Pan also has more offerings, including a camp that's more intensive, longer and cheaper than Rhody Surf's.

Thanks so much for your help! I was actually looking at the week long surf camp at Peter Pan as I don't have any vacation time planned this summer and I was hoping to change this!
