I have looked up the fare on Amtrak;- Prov. to NY Penn. and its not bad. I will now look up ticket costs from Kingston to NY Pen......do you know if this is a direct Amtrak service to NY or do you need to change at all?

Many thanks

Yes , its called Amtrak Regional , make sure you book 14 days in advance to get the discounted fare. Amtrak Regional Runs every 20-40mins , 24/7 along the Northeast Corridor. You board in NY Penn station and you get dropped off at Kingston. Takes about 2.30 hrs.

Hi Hollytree that sounds like a good idea I am just about to contact Hertz to confirm they can do this....once we get to NY we fly home from there so we need to drop the car off before we get on the train.

Thank you again and we are looking forward to experiencing the lovely American hospitality when we arrive.

The Amtrak has way more delays than the MBTA...you can't even compare it! Almost everyday, while waiting for my train, I see the delays notices for Amtrak trains. I would certainly look for a place from where you can take MBTA...it's a much more reliable service.
