Pawtucket sees surge in violence, city leader search for answers

https://turnto10.com/news/local/pawt...ch-for-answers

"PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — There have been three homicides in Pawtucket in the last two weeks. Most recently, 34-year-old Ferdinand Reyes was stabbed outside Star Wine Liquors on West Avenue.
His brother Jorge said he was a single father who leaves behind a 14-year-old son.
"I want to cry, but I'm just trying to hold it in, I've been crying for the last day," said Jorge.
This is a submitted photo of Ferdinand Reyes.

Investigators said 22-year-old Michael J. Alvarado confessed to stabbing Ferdinand in the stomach Tuesday night after their girlfriends got in a fight with each other.

Police said the suspect fled the scene shortly after but Galego Court's private Flock safety camera system may have caught the license place of the getaway car, which has been taken as evidence.
Police responded to a deadly stabbing a near Star Wine Liquors at the corner of West Avenue and Knowles Street, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. (WJAR)

Pawtucket police said the city doesn't currently have Flock.

"It been reported to the council that the Flock cameras have helped in solving some crimes, I don't know like what the value is in having the Flock cameras safety, like we're still trying to analyze it there are some people who have some concerns with it. But I heard the Flock camera in Cranston helped with one of the recent homicides," said At Large City Councilor Melissa Darosa."

Exclamation Shots fired in Cranston

Two homes and a vehicle were hit by gunfire, corner of Corey and Whipple Ave.. This is right off of Cranston St., near the Cranston PD and Providence city line. Rough area of town, that has been no stranger to incidents. A lot of "spillover" from Providence there.

^ I think the Ring Street (Federal Hill) shooting happened here:

The house on the left appears to be where the cop is shown. And the driveway on the right appears to be where the police cars are parked.

Exclamation Be careful where you park in Providence

Man Reportedly Pointed Gun at Woman and 3-Year-Old in Providence Over Parking Space

"Police say they met with the female caller who said she had been parked in the lot at 1165 Elmwood, adjacent to an insurance company she had business with. Police later learned the lot is also shared with a private residence next door.

The woman told police she was sitting in her car with her three-year-old child, when a man exited the private residence, pointed a rifle at her, and said she was not allowed to park there.

The woman said the male then went back inside; she went inside the insurance company and called the police."
