Another murder in Newport
A man was stabbed to death in Newport on Monday afternoon. It happened on or near Dudley Ave. This is near all of the public housing projects that dominate the city's problematic North End.
For those keeping count, I believe the 2022 murder totals are as follows:
Pawtucket -- 3
Newport -- 2
Providence -- 2
Police: Man killed in stabbing, second man injured in Newport
"Police responded around 3:47 p.m. on Monday to area Dudley Avenue for a reported fight.
The department says they found two men bleeding.
43-year-old Davide Semenza of Newport was transported to Newport Hospital with multiple knife wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital."

^Lots of trouble in the Valley neighborhood lately. The previous evening, there was a report of shots fired on Newark St.. And yesterday afternoon (a few hours before the Academy Ave. shooting), something went down on Harold St. (at or very near where the woman was murdered earlier this month).

13-year-old boy shot.
A 13-year-old boy was shot last night in the Valley neighborhood, in the area of 38 Geneva St. (2 blocks from Harold St.). He was walking with friends and heard a "pop", when hit on the side with gunfire. Says he did not previously see or hear anything. He is currently in stable condition at Hasbro.
Shooting victim, 13, tells Providence police he 'heard a pop,' then felt pain
https://www.providencejournal.com/st...ENCE-NLETTER01
"Providence police detectives are investigating after a 13-year-old told the police he was shot while walking Thursday night on Geneva Street in the Valley neighborhood.
The victim was in stable condition Friday at Hasbro Children's Hospital, and nobody has been apprehended, according to Providence police Cmdr. Thomas Verdi.
The victim told the police he was walking near 38 Geneva St. with two friends when "he heard a pop and and felt some pain on the side of his stomach," the police said in a report.
The victim, interviewed at Roger Williams Hospital, told the police "he did not see anything and could not remember anything after that."
He had a laceration on his right arm and a single "gunshot wound on his right side of his stomach that exited to his left side of his stomach," the police said."
