As someone who went to public school in Providence, the answer is this: most of the kids here are , and it's only getting worse. Elorza needs to realize that this isn't some hipster granola utopia, and that he needs work on fixing the actual issues in the city rather than trying to make it "hip."

Elorza is not a nuts and bolts guy. And it shows. He'd be great for Austin or Cambridge but he's poison for Providence. Go ahead and laugh, but Providence needs a Grebien.

Perhaps. While not an Austin or Cambridge, Providence will never see itself as just a big Pawtucket. A nuts & bolts candidate would likely not get elected. Elorza is more than a bit feckless, not unlike every mayor since Cianci.
Jump bikes don't work in Providence. That's the thread and truer words were never spoken. It's not that kind of a city. Lipstick on a pig.
