There is a better video out there...much more graphic and with a lot of profanity afterwards.
I thought it looked intentional. As for the color of his skin, who knows.
You have no way knowing the intent of the officer. Accidents happen in the course of motor vehicle pursuits. The kid put HIMSELF in harm's way. As well as the police and innocent bystanders
Not supposed to go after them? Is this what you would tell the mother of a little girl run over by these terrorists? Why not have a canteen truck standing by to serve them coffee and donuts when they finally run out of gas?
Yes, not supposed to go after them. It endangers the public. And they can rarely catch them.

Why was the police car on the sidewalk on the wrong side of the street? It wasn't like it was a high speed chase and the police car lost control.

How many little girls have been run over by mopeds? Besides this one with the police cruiser, I know of one crash involving a moped. A moped rider traveling too fast in the Blackstone Boulevard bike lane struck a cyclist who swerved to avoid a jogger. The cyclist was knocked down, got a minor scrape, and rode away. The moped rider propelled himself into a tree and was critically injured. The moped riders are endangering themselves way more than any others, and a police chase would endanger way more bystanders.
I'm no fan of Elorza, but this isn't an Elorza problem. And it's also not just a Providence (or Elmwood) problem. It goes on in Boston, Brockton, and probably a lot of places. Philadelphia comes to mind.
He's not really a Mayor. And this man is "mulling" a run for Governor?
Providence mayors have always had grandiose visions of governorship. The skill set doesn't seem to translate state-wide. At least not in the eyes of voters outside Providence. Elorza's subpar performance is the least likely to be different.
" Mark Fisher with BLM issued the following statement Monday.
"This is exactly why we don’t need more cops in our community. More cops equates to more violence perpetrated on people of color. We need police reform. Current Law enforcement standards are so ridiculously under par that basic de-escalation tactics aren’t able to be implemented by the average police officer.
Regular mental health evaluations need to be revisited. Retraining across the board is mandatory and an inevitable consequence of such consistent aggression by lawmen sworn to uphold the law.
There’s a man in critical condition and in a coma due to an overzealous and under-trained police officer. This is a behavioral pattern that is far too common. If this had been a white kid there would be a collective furor aimed directly at such sloppy and reckless policing.
This rogue behavior by vigilante beat cops is not acceptable. We are Black Lives Matter Rhode Island and we will keep holding law enforcement accountable even if they don’t have the same standard amongst themselves." "

If you don't think that these urban terrorists are recklessly endangering the public without the police chasing them, why not invite them over to your street? These are not harmless "moped riders". Providence can't even keep Jump bikes in the city, and you want this scum on motorcycles? People like you will be the first to criticize the police for not doing anything when the "moped riders" kill someone.

BLM talking about "de-escalation". Honestly.
