As has been mentioned several times on here, the taxes in RI vary considerably by town/city.

I find it interesting that some posters who claim to find high tax areas more desirable have chosen to live in RI towns with super low taxes.

Exactly, and certain RIers find it at least desirable enough to buy winter property there.

I have family and friends down in FL, and everyone they know from RI lives down there in the Winter. Some to escape the cold, but mainly to escape the taxes.

However, they never actually leave RI, because they still prefer it here.

My Parents' friends actually got stuck down there longer than they anticipated last summer because of the COVID restrictions up here. And boy oh boy, they were ready to get the hell out of there and move back up here.

But we're wandering off topic again. Oh heavens!

For example, property taxes in some RI towns/cities are approximately 3X the amount someone in Jamestown would pay.

This statement typifies the parochial insularity of Rhode Islanders. Here's the "receipts": Population growth of Rhode Island since 2010: .21%. And Florida: 16.7%. I must say though that you've made a seamless transition to residency.

The geographic size of Rhode Island is the equivalent of one FL county.

If we had the population growth FL did, people would literally be falling into the sea.

But can't you just live with the fact that some people dig Rhode Island and get over it?

To not be capable of that, at your "mature" age, conveys a true sense of abject misery.

Again: I'm sorry she hurt you so, now be a man and move the hell on.

While you may think this is your "got ya" moment. It isn't. Some of the most desirable locales in Florida have very high local property taxes, even by RI standards.

Yet Jamestown has very LOW property taxes, by "RI" standards. Maybe you should move back to "desirable" Providence, where they seem a lot more eager to "redistribute the wealth".

I'm sorry if I wasn't more clear. The numbers furnished represent per capita growth. Some geographically large and sparsely populated states experienced levels of growth far below that of some smaller and more densely populated states. These numbers are far more influenced by where people want to live than the size of a given state.
And accordingly, during the time period discussed, Rhode Island experienced slower growth than all but three other states in this great country. Say a prayer tonight for West Virginia. Can you dig it?
