Tell that to our fellow poster who routinely compares Barrington and EG to super elite Mass. towns to make some kind of point that the "top RI high schools aren't that good".

But at least we agree on something.

I know. Would we be next door to Arkansas instead of MA, I'm sure the obvious comparisons would not be such an issue.

How many towns in RI have you lived in?

Of course. The idea that you can't compare our Barrington/EG with Weston/Wellesley simply because the Mass towns are somewhat more affluent - at the high end - is a specious argument.

"Somewhat" more affluent is a bit of an understatement. They might have been more similar back in the day, but you guys don't seem to realize how extremely wealthy the "W" towns of MA have become.

Wellesley

Median HHI: $197,132
% adults with bachelor's degree or higher: 83.8%

Weston

Median HHI: $207,702
% adults with bachelor's degree or higher: 82.8%

Barrington

Median HHI: $125,431
% adults with bachelor's degree or higher: 69.1%

East Greenwich

Median HHI: $114,147
% adults with bachelor's degree or higher: 62.6%

These are not negligible differences. It's just a whole other level of affluence.

As to EG being a good fit for the OP, yes that is quite irrelevant.

As for the claim later introduced to the discussion re. RI not having as good high schools as the top ones in MA, I say this is quite relevant for anybody interested in scrutinizing that claim.
