Elorza made the right choice. It will be interesting to see what proposals & policies Magaziner comes up with as a justification for running. That he opens with a discussion of the disparities in Rhode Island (and the nation) is a good beginning. I like the sharp cut of his jib. Unusual for a Rhode Island politician today not named Whitehouse.

This is the best political news this State has had since Mayor Hopkins wiped the floor with the Dem in the Cranston election.

Yes, I would guess none of these choices for governor would impress Rhode Island's Proud Boy. Hope must indeed be a scary place for that dark vision.

When a Liberal politician campaigns on "closing divides" its time to keep a firm grip on your wallet. YOUR dough is what the bridge will be made of. Please understand that this guy has bigger political aspirations than governor of Rhode Island. Much bigger. And you folks have just seen the results of using the office to build one's resume. Politics has been a interest of mine for a very long time, and my gut tells me he's the wrong man. You folks don't need another genius on Smith Hill anymore than you needed the last one. Or the one in Providence. A Grebian, Hopkins type would be just the ticket. If you've got one.

A city the size of Providence should be able to do better than look to the likes of Pawtucket or Cranston for solutions. It has real city problems, arising from years of mismanagement, which need to be addressed. Not the smallest being an upcoming bankruptcy due to the $1B+ pension/healthcare liability. To my knowledge, Magaziner hasn't come forward with his ideas on that elephant in the room.

Hopkins as Governor would be glorious.

But again, McKee doesn't bother me much. Sure he's a cultist on COVID like the rest of the Left. But on spending and "woke" he's more old school Democrat. Nothing wrong with shoring up small business, looking after our Police, and nurturing charter schools.

And superior to Magaziner really, if truth be told....but both are far superior to Elorza.

I think it's very telling that cities like that can find far superior leaders than the "capital city" these days. The "small state" excuse can only fly for so long.

Most big cities run by Democrats are in turmoil right now.

Check out the murder rate in Chicago at the moment. (Not sheer numbers, the rate.)

Sadly, Providence is practically a relative success story in terms of a (somewhat) sizeable city being run by a "Progressive".

And I am sure we would agree it is anything but....

That such political mediocrity passes for "far superior leaders" speaks volumes for the sad state of leadership in Rhode Island. I'll withhold any judgement on Magaziner - just happy to see Elorza go away.
