yes, they set up the criteria. Had they included mountains, canyons, old west towns and other elements Rhode Island wouldn't have fared as well

Rhode Island is called the Ocean State for a reason. The ocean views are very picturesque. These rankings are always subjective anyways.

By most accounts we live in a beautiful state. It's compactness & the coast make for eye candy, virtually everywhere you look.

So what’s your most scenic spot?

I’ll go with the Inn at Castle Hill with the yachts sailing by a few hundred yards offshore.

I've always liked the view from the top of the Mt. Hope Bridge.

Beavertail Light on the cliffs with surfs up. But, then I'm prejudice.

I think Beavertail is up there too for classically scenic.

I'm very partial, however, to some of the non phragmites dominated wetlands of Western Coventry near the CT border. Not what most people think of scenic, but a stream through a wetland valley bordered by ridges of pine/oak forest has a beauty to me.

Second that - one of the best public views.
Some views from privately owned properties are spectacular, but alas - not for the public..

The views from a few different points of Fort Adams or the Goat Island - Gurneys Resort - towards the Newport bridge are picturesque as well.

Practically any ocean view is picturesque to me. Ocean Drive in Newport is one spectacular drive incorporating both the houses and the ocean views.

I used to haul Lumber out of the Weyerhauser Plant in Portsmouth going over the Mt Hope. The truck was so high, that when I looked out of the passenger side window, I couldn't see the Railing. Was a little freaky, lol.
