That pipeline never had oil flowing through it. It was still under construction and only 8% complete

Well, perhaps. Except for that nasty elephant in the room: Greenhouse Gas Induced Climate Change. Unless 90+% of climate scientists are wrong, it's drill today, fry tomorrow. No thanks.

You knew they would jump on this bandwagon to try to go back to fossil fuels. Greenhouse gases be damned.

RI is also one of those states who will suffer the most from sea rise.

You could do your part to combat global warming. Any of you. Stop heating your house, stop cooling your house, stop driving your car, stop boating and stop flying on airplanes. Freezers, refrigerators, televisions, long hot showers. Seriously? This is the problem, we all want someone else to do something about it. Oil wouldn't be flowing through ANY pipeline if we didn't continually demand it. By virtue of the fact that we're both American citizens, we're two of the biggest contributors alive to global warming. And we've got the guts to proclaim that "they" really ought to do something about it. It's us, we ARE the problem. Let's stay focused on cheap gasoline, it's what we want after all. I'm willing to admit it.

The Administration also shut down a ton of jobs when they did that.

In addition to that, oil companies can't get permits to drill on land that actually has.....oil.

Why? Again, this government.

This is all being done on purpose in service to the Green Energy lobby.

And yet we're still using oil - but we are attempting to buy it from despotic regimes such as Venezuela.

Hella lotta good that will do.

In the meantime, electric car charging stations still rely on coal, electric cars are still made using petroleum products, and electric car batteries are made from lithium ion. A "rare earth metal" being mainly exploited by the Chinese which requires African slave labor and significantly pollutes the environment.

This stuff is way more complicated than the surface level refuse that floats to the top of "mainstream media" - who are simply doing the bidding of their corporate donors to fool people into thinking they are doing the right and ethical thing. I used to buy into it myself.

The fact remains that gas prices, along with everything else, have been going up since early 2021 - the acceleration may be in part due to the Ukraine conflict.

I guess it would have helped if Brandon hadn't reversed Big T's sanctions on the Nordstream pipeline. huh?

But thus far there is no proof of "price gouging". It's a deflection.

The Administration claimed the same thing when grocery prices were increasing.

Has anyone here ever gone over spreadsheets to examine wholesale price margins to see if that's even credible?

Hint: It isn't.

We're being played.

Maybe the Convention of States should be convened and stop all of this nonsense in the Federal Government.

America could go 100% green tomorrow, and it wouldn't stop global warming.

In fact, India and China dwarf us - and the feckless "Paris Climate Agreement" has no enforcement mechanism for these rising economies that are using coal at a faster pace than we are - and will continue to for a long time.

However, the agreement would continue to shift our manufacturing base overseas to China.

No wonder the Democrats love it so much.

And no wonder they are now losing working people and minorities at an astounding rate.

Look for the red wave to even wash ashore here in Rhode Island this November.

Prepare to be astonished.

I know what a big part of the problem is. Ideologically entrenched blocs of Americans swearing with their last breaths that they alone hold a monopoly on truth and wisdom. And politicians absolutely love it. By keeping us at each other's throats, it diverts us from understanding that they, themselves, are all part of the biggest and most powerful fraternity in the country. They're not your friends. Or mine. None of them. They've a vested interest in keeping us stupid and divided. The last thing they want is us banding together to dimish their power.

There isn't an answer. There's no putting the genie back in the bottle. At the end of the day, wind and solar is just feel good stuff. Coupled with unbridled human population growth, our evolution to an industrialized society has doomed homo sapiens to eventual extinction. Red AND Blue. The question? Who's going to miss us?
