The trouble with us Yankee elitists is that we start to believe we know how everyone else should think. Personally, I don't mind being reminded that this is the very narrow mindedness we rail against.

Mr. Goldwater thought precious little of the Texan. As did JFK. Who am I to argue?

You make a good point. History has been kinder to Johnson than many of his contemporaries. He's especially well thought of for his bold civil rights work. I guess as a very impressionable young conservative republican, I was blinded by Goldwater's simplistic ideology. He changed much as he aged. As did I. So, I still feel an affection for him.

Now not just a realtor, but a "sleazy" realtor. And, lamely attempting to tarnish Barry Goldwater in the same breath. I could say: do better, but your capacity is a known here.

He did have a memorable quote:
Quote:
Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.

Respect being key. While not assuming anything as lofty as the Goldwater/Kennedy dynamic, I can have civil discussions with several posters here which I disagree on just about everything politically.

Back on topic, once again.

Two people were stabbed in Smith Hill, a man and a woman. This happened near the corner of Douglas and Chalkstone (close to the Foxy Lady).

You should probably move down south, you'd be 5 times as busy with these posts!

Ah, silly me. You don't do this thread for places you actually LIVE. That would make too much sense.
