"All cops are b******s." While blathering admonishments to others against arbitrarily "judging" entire groups. And you wonder why I had to turn her off?
I can't speak for her or read her heart, but I would invite her to clarify this quote. Rotten apples occur in every walk of life, police included. "All" must surely be a misstatement. Probably unintendedly in the heat of a moment.
Of course he isn't. He's intelligent and sophisticated enough to understand the nuance of this country. The balances and compromises. The complex relationship between competing interest groups. Between the electorate and their elected. Between the public and those employed to serve them. Some idiot made up the offensive and insulting acronym and there actually walk among us, those stupid enough to parrot it like schoolchildren.
I'm certainly familiar with it, though I'm far from condoning it.
I don't see how being politically sophisticated and understanding an abhorrent acronym are mutually exclusive.

Nuance. He may of course know the actual meaning, but yes, he's sophisticated enough to understand that only very rarely is anything so simple and absolute. None of the thinkers here are enemies in any context that I'd apply. I just finished "Midway" by Craig L. Symonds. Amazing book. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and their pilots were subsequently known to strafe Americans in life rafts, in parachutes and floating in the water. Rapprochement was eventually achieved but this at the time, was an enemy.
