Could Brown Stadium be utilized as a stopgap for a couple of seasons? RIFC owner Brett Johnson is a Brown University alumnus. That could prove useful in convincing the school to take the soccer team on as a tenant until the financing of Tidewater Stadium's construction can be worked out. The 20,000 person capacity is more than adequate. I don't know whether the football field markings are permanent. If so, maybe Johnson offers to pay for installation of a new surface that can be lined, have markings removed, and be relined in order to switch between soccer in the spring/summer and both soccer and football in the early fall when there would be overlap between the RIFC and Brown football seasons. I know turf installation can be pricey, but it would have to be cheaper than construction of an entire stadium. See what kinds of crowds the team can draw, buy some time to figure out financing for the Pawtucket stadium, and generate some revenue.

Too big, IMO. Tidewater Landing, if built, will be half that. I assume they estimated the demand correctly.

While 10,000 people is 10,000 people, a full stadium is seen as a success and a half full stadium is seen as a failure.

College football and USL games are both on Saturdays though. No way to hold both and re-line the field

RIFC's initial season ticket deposit push last November reportedly netted 2,500 pledges in a week's time. I don't know how many more deposits have been secured since then, but maybe the team could get away with playing home matches at Brown University's Stevenson-Pincine Field. That 3,500 seat facility plays host to the Brown soccer and lacrosse teams.

Shouldn't be a problem. Brown's 2024 football schedule is already up on the Brown athletic department website. RIFC lets the USL Championship know the weekends that Brown football is at home well ahead of time and the soccer league schedules RIFC for road matches on those weekends. RIFC also lets its league know when Brown football is on the road well ahead of time and the soccer team is scheduled for home matches on those weekends. Under that scenario there's more than enough time to re-line the Brown Stadium field from football markings to soccer markings and vice versa.

It looks like USL Championship has single-elimination playoffs with matches hosted by the higher seed. If RIFC was the home team in the USL playoffs while sharing Brown Stadium, then the team might have to host a playoff game at another field if Brown football was scheduled to be at home. Team can cross that bridge if and when they come to it. As a brand new team they might not even make the playoffs right away.

East Providence mayor makes pitch to bring Rhode Island FC to the city for inaugural season

^ Pierce Memorial Stadium. The article says it holds 6,000 people, but a Google search shows that it holds 8,000.

From wikipedia:

"Pierce Memorial Field is an 8,000-capacity stadium located in East Providence, Rhode Island. From 2003–2008, the stadium was home to the Rhode Island Stingrays soccer team. The venue also hosts most of the high school athletics events in East Providence."

Not a bad option while a new stadium is delayed but it has no amenities

Remains to be seen if this affects the season ticket price, but then we never knew what that was
