"WOONSOCKET – The parents of a 15-monthold girl are facing felony charges after the child suffered a near-fatal fentanyl overdose at a Burnside Avenue apartment.
Tayla M. Jones, 34, and Tracy L. Lehrbas, 57, both of 259 Burnside Ave., are both charged with child endangerment; Jones is also charged with possession of fentanyl and Lehrbas with conspiracy."
Tilted Barn is always worth the trip. I really like doing the Origin and Moniker combo too (and grabbing a burger from There, There). Origin is obviously a tiny operation (in the old LLBW and then Beer on Earth space) so they don't usually have more than 5 or 6 beers on draft or 2-3 different cans to go, but everything I've had from them is good. The pale ales, lagers, and pilsners are where they shine.
And since it's absolutely vital to keep this very important thread about Woonsocket, I do think Lops is worth a visit.
" WOONSOCKET – A hall fire in a Social District tenement that police initially thought was a mere accident led to the arrest of two men, one on charges of deliberately causing the damage.
Paul Kenny Lutz, 47, of 611 East School St., was arrested April 17 on one count of fifth-degree arson."
"Meanwhile, state fire marshals continued investigating and came to a different conclusion, namely, that a curtain in the hall had been willfully set on fire – not once, but twice – by something other than a cigarette, according to Detective Sgt. Andrew Girard’s report. Kevin Morris, an investigator with the Rhode Island State Fire Marshals Office, advised Girard that “the curtain was burned in two separate locations, with patterns of melted curtain on the floor, which was..."
I will have to make it a priority to try it out. That’s the problem with Rhode Island, too many great mom and pop places to eat and drink.
The only tap room I have been to a few times is LineSider Brewing in East Greenwich.
Looks like Long Live has some great revues, there’s usually food trucks there also?
Linesider is actually way down my list but I haven't been there in a few years and some people tell me they're better now.
You might also want to check out Buttonwoods in another month or so. They're moving into a much larger space (the old Revival spot) on Sims. It's next door to the Farm Fresh site, where New Harvest, Tallulah's, Providence Brewing, winter Farmers' Market and Winter Flea are. And across the street from ISCO and the Steelyard, so there's often a lot going on around there!
Yes, Long Live has food trucks most days. If you love IPAs you'll love them. They make amazing pastry stouts too. Origin Beer Project doesn't have food trucks but they're across the street from Moniker, which does and next to Slow Rhode & Y Noodle, also very close to There, There.
Origin is small but that means you're being served by the owners/brewers and they can answer any questions. They've been killing the pale Ales lately, and they do a lot of low ABV or N/A options. They offer some of the more creative options you'll find in RI.
Proclamation and Tilted Barn round out my list for best beer. If you're in Westerly, Grey Sail has a pretty unique taproom set up in a Victorian house, with outside bocce courts, picnic tables and pizza oven. Shaidzon has an outside beer garden and has a lot of bands. Pivotal in Bristol seems to also feature music a lot. And Apponaug Brewing has a really beautiful location on the Pawtuxet with good food and rather average beer.
