Can anyone tell me if there are usually cabs waiting outside Amtrak station in Providence or is it better to arrange in advance. If so, any taxi recommendations? Last thing I want to do is be stuck at the Prov Train Station. thanks!
I've seen cabs hanging out there- although if you get in at 2am it might be a different situation. However, I'm sure yellow cabs are a quick phone call away in any case.
Hey now, we maybe aren't Manhattan but yes, there are cabs at the Providence Train Station. Keep in mind that there are two exits there, they usually park towards the Downtown side.
If you need a ride to and from Woonsocket, you can call different cab companies from inside the train station and ask for a "flat rate" for the run. They're not busy at 10:30 in the morning (unless the weather is bad, then forget it) and they'll usually be happy to have a run like that and they'll have you walk out on the side of the train station where cab's don't park.
A cab ride to Woonsocket will be maybe $40-50 (one way) I would guess. I know I was charged $35 for an airport to East Side run.
The train station is within a 5 minute walk of the bus depot in Kennedy Plaza. You might look at the RIPTA schedules and see if there is a bus for Woonsocket about that time. Within Woonsocket you could take a cab to CVS if needed.
Honestly, I wouldn't take a bus if I had an important interview.
The bus from Providence goes to Park Square, Woon. and you'll need to call a cab from there, and it's a pretty decent ride out to the Corporate offices anyway.
thanks all, I might try to get a local friend to give me a lift instead. $50 for a cab ride, ouch!
