Ok, there are lots and lots of people blogging about Providence, about Rhode Island, and have been for many years. There are lots of Facebook pages too. I'm curious what Rhode Islanders are reading... tell us!

I think a lot of people don't look at blogs or facebook- at least not the ones who regularly post here ( I don't)- so maybe you could give us some links to some you like?

I frankly haven't been able to find anything decent. I used to be a big fan of local blogs, and I still read one from my old neighborhood in New York on a regular basis, but for whatever reason nobody wants to commit to one for Rhody. There's riblogger.com, but it feels oddly commercial -- I'm not exactly sure what its deal is.

I suppose the closest is Greater City Providence, but that's just the blog of an organization with an agenda. Not that I don't support the agenda, but they're not going to tell you about amazing restaurants and beaches and whatnot.

City Data doesn't permit links to outside blogs.

No links, but mentioning name is ok, right?

I don't think there is a problem with that but I'm not 100% sure. It mainly has to do with the advertising on some sites.

Yes, GCP was one I was thinking about. RI Future also. Prost Providence is a newish beer one I came across with only a little activity... There are (were?) many individual blogs, some of which I have occasionally come across over the years, though none really are tracking on my radar. I recall a couple specifically geared to the west side of Providence and to Elmwood that I came across years ago, neither of which seems to be extant.

I wouldn't qualify myself as being a big consumer of blogs.

I used to be a pretty successful local blogger, believe it or not. I didn't have as much time for it after having a kid. When I moved here, I sensed an unfilled niche and started a local blog that currently has zero posts. I think it looks pretty good, though!

^A blank page? Talk about writer's block! That doesn't sound like you.

I'd love to find a local blog that covered the local, underground music scene.

Speaking of underground music... Happy Saturday night!

Not so much a blog, but I am a big of Nesi's notes on WPRI to stay up to date on RI politics
