This past Sunday was one of those days that I realized how amazing and beautiful the coast of Rhode Island is and how lucky I am to live so close to it (I actually live just over the line in coastal southeast Connecticut). Sunday was a perfect day – sunny and around 60 F, with light on shore winds. There were more seagulls than humans out that morning.

Long after the heat and crowds of summer have departed…you get to really see the windswept solitude of the Atlantic Coast the way it was meant to be seen. As much as I love summer, the off-season still has its charms.

Just thought out of state people would like to see a few pics of the beaches in the off-season.

I agree totally with the OP

I have always loved the RI beaches in the Autumn-
the summer crowds are gone, the clam shacks are boarded up- the air is refreshing and the only souns you hear are the waves crashing n the beach.

On a sunny day as the pictures portray the can be bright and uplifting, but a cloudy, bleak day has a haunting melancholy power that is most profound.

Thanks for posting the pics. I love the majesty of the coast, especially when empty of humans. We try to bundle up and go every few weeks through the winter, unless it is so cold as to be uncomfortable.
