I am currently looking into renting an apartment on Gano Street 226 to be exact, But I am not in Providence. Is this area a nice area?

Chad,

Is it nice, not that block, really- is it unsafe, not at all-

why don't you go into Google Maps street view (orange man) and check it out for yourself what this old city is all about.

Not the best, not the worst either. Gano is a very busy street since it's an artery onto the east side from I195.

Pluses of that building are proximity to Brown and shopping. Area is a mix of students and Portuguese who live in the Fox Point neighborhood close by.

I can see why you would consider it since heat included is rare. As a student dwelling- it's not bad.

When are you coming to visit? There are a lot of "for rent" signs right on the East Side and I think you could do better just driving around and looking.

Totally fine. I lived a few houses down last year. Never had anything close to a problem. Really good location, you can walk to two quality grocery stores - East Side Marketplace and Whole Foods. My favorite diner Rufful's is around the corner in Wayland Square. A couple of bookstores, easy access to Wickenden St. The only drawback is it's a busy street but if you don't have little kids then I wouldn't worry about it.
