You might be interested in this new development of a collection of old buildings. It's right in the area we're discussing.

ljd1010..

Thank you so much for providing the reviews. I am going to take a look at both the places. Nice to know that you grew up in Cranston.

The final question of the day is how ready are these places (especially Cranston) if another flooding incident happens. I observed recently on the flooding in RI and that the cities were unable to cope up with it for days. I was in RI just a week before this whole thing happened. I read somewhere that even the malls were flooded.

So taking a higher floor apt might be the only choice right???.

Do I need to worry about molds and other flood damages post these incidents.

Finally is parking in the streets like Boston or do we get parking spaces. Sorry...the Texas side of the brain is again imagining wide parking space....((

The flooding was a very rare event. I don't know if that's ever happened b4. Too bad the weather will be so lousy this weekend; lately it's been nice, almost summerlike.

The recent flooding was an event that had not occurred in 100 years. There is tenant parking at both complexes (Royal Crest and Chateaux). Overnight street parking is not allowed in Cranston. If I was looking for an apartment in the Cranston area, I would choose Chateaux.

You don't mind prisons, do you? ;-)

lol nothing to worry about! I work directly across from the prison (or ACI) and there isn't anything to worry about. I wouldn't pick up any hitchhikers though.

Really it's a nice area, but you should know the prison is in the area in case you have some phobia about it.
I thought the ACI was 02910? I used to live on Pontiac Ave and that was my zip code. Now that I'm in 02920 I'm in Western Cranston and it's actually much different.

yes, it's in 02910 but Pontiac Ave is right off of Garden City. Not that there's really much of an issue. I don't think there've been too many escapes - only 1 I can recall.

My old neighborhood (Oakhill Terrace) backed up to Mulligan's Island - very close to the ACI. My zip was 02920. I was never fearful...great little neighborhood. Spent 20 happy years there.

It's true. And even if there was an escape, I don't think they'd want to hang around that area!

Several years ago there was an escape...the inmate was caught hiding in a backyard in Glen Woods. Caused quite a hoopla. That is the only instance of an escape I can remember.
