Look beyond apartment complexes. There are many rentals that are flats (one floor of a house), duplexes, small house, etc. especially in the better and also in the more historic and scenic areas. New apartment complexes here are often on odd bits of land right next to busy highways or malls, etc. since good parcels have long been developed.

Don't forget to add Seekonk, Rehoboth, and Somerset to your list. You might contact a realtor in the southcoast MA area to tell them what you're looking for. (No charge to you as tenant).

Thanks I just found a good listing that list more single family homes than apartments. We would prefer a single family home, but dont want to deal with yard upkeep and snow removal as my husband will be too busy to do it and I, to be honest, wont take care of it. I think our chances of finding a rental home with snow removal and mowing included will be very slim to none

There are many companies who do this work.

If you find a rental in a 2/3 family home, the snow removal and yard upkeep are generally included. Often the owner lives on one floor while they rent out the other. Side-by-side duplexes, however, generally have the tenant responsible for their half. We had one rental in Providence where we had the 2nd and 3rd floors of a very large 2 family - we had 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, living room, dining room, family room, enclosed porch as well as 1/2 the basement including laundry hook-ups. It may take yo a while to find something that large.
