Thanks, for all the info. I have thought of Portland, ME but am worried about the heating bills. I was just thinking that RI would not be as cold (might be wrong about that) After doingmore research, as must as I want to go to New England i think I mightbe better of in DE or NC due to the rentals prices.
i am to looking for a different living situation but trying to stay in the same area i am.i also disabled so i know how tough it can be i have been disabled since i was a kid.i am looking for something affordable myself and not having much luck so i am also currently looking for someone who is interested in even going in on a place to help them and myself financially.i hope you find what your looking for an all the best on your search
I'm afraid you will have a major problem renting a house on a budget of 1000.
Why? because overheads are high for landlords, property taxes (which can easily be $500+ a month on a 3 or 4 bed house), mortgage, water bills, maintenance, etc. will quickly eat up money leaving no profit or incentive for a landlord.
If a landlord takes 4 kids as well, it will probably be a dump at that price and you won't want the neighborhood or the schools either. The draconian lead laws here have made renting to children hazardous and now many will not consider them. Sorry to rain on your parade, but that's how it is around here.
I don't mean to be condescending, but this is a perfect response.
