We just moved to Central VA area and have searched everywhere for items for our new home. One of the things we are having a difficult time finding is a dresser/changing table for our 2 year old. We have looked at Ashley, Grand, craigslist, Badcock, etc and just aren't finding anything of good quality. The only thing we have found is a dresser/changing table at Pottery Barn Kids...for $750. That seems like to much... but it IS good quality and looks beautiful. We are looking for white, something feminine or playful, and good quality. And we would obviously prefer not to spend $700.. Does anyone have any tips on places in Richmond - Central VA that has high quality children's furniture at reasonable prices ($200-350 maybe). Also, if you have bought from PBK and are satisfied and think their prices are justified that would be helpful as well. We have considered also checking out Ikea in Woodbridge..but thats a loong drive and would really prefer to find something in Richmond or Central VA.

We are also looking for a comforter or something for our king bed and are finding NOTHING. We have been to Macys, Bed Bath Beyond, JcPenney, Nordstrom, Dillards, Target, just about everywhere we can find. We are looking for a place that has a wide selection at reasonable prices (say under $300/350 total..maybe) and is SOFT and doesn't have to be dry cleaned. We have a 2 year old and one on the way..don't want to have to dry clean my comforter every week. We got a great one at Linens & Things several years ago which was perfect and only $70...I guess times have really changed...and no more L&T stores.. We would like to get a comforter but just might have to go with a duvet/comforter or a quilt/coverlet because we are tired of searching..any suggestions for places in Richmond for good quality bed linens would be of great help!!

We plan on spending the weekend really searching so any tips on places to go would be very helpful..as we are not very familiar with the area.

Have you tried Baby USA in Chesterfield? I think PBK is overpriced. We used to have Bellini which was about the same price as PBK but much better quality. What about Land of Nod (Crate and Barrel's kids store)? Sometimes the large neighborhoods (Wyndham, for example) have neighborhood yard sales where people get rid of gently used stuff but I'm not sure when those are or if any are coming up.

Have you tried online for both/either? Overstock sometimes has good finds. Also, we have lots of Home Goods in the area. Have you tried those for a comforter?

Thanks for the suggestions..I will definitley look into all of them. I have looked into online for comforters, but furniture tends to get pricey with s/h/delivery with furniture. I can research further though.

If you are in Lynchburg you might want to take a day trip to Greenfront in Farmville.

Greenfront is a furniture store located in Downtown Farmville. The owner converted a lot of the old tobacco warehouses into showrooms. If you go, wear layers. Some of the buildings are not air conditioned.
