I am looking to move to Richmond soon and I'm looking to either buy or rent a small studio.

I've searched online, but it doesn't seem like there exists a lot of studios to rent. Those that are for rent are usually quite expensive. I'm searching for somewhere to live on a budget (thus looking for a small studio) but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.

I don't need much in the way of convenience, I'm just looking for something with reasonable price and location. My only must haves are to live by myself and in an area that isn't full of crime.

Any tips on where to look? Do I have any chance of finding something good in the $600 - $700 range. By good I mean location. I don't need a lot of space and I don't mind if something is old and without modern convenience.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Richmond is reasonable enough that studios don't really exist - you can find and old tired one bedroom for that price in a decent neighborhood

OK, but is it likely to find a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent (or at least not full of crime) location for $600? That doesn't seem likely from my searching.

Not sure how to answer likely, but doable yes. Probably won't be in a few years though. Much easier with roommates - 600 a bedroom gets you something niceish
