Looking for a large church home. We just moved here and living on the west side of Richmond. Our last place of worship was a large church and are hoping to find one similar.

Any names or websites would be much appreciated!! Thanks

We've lived in NoVa, Tampa, Raleigh and Chicago and this area doesn't seem to have a lot of huge churches compared to those places. Any denominational preference? There are some large Southern Baptist churches (Bon Air Baptist is one off the top of my head. Maybe First Baptist Richmond?). I think West End Assembly of God is pretty big. I'm generally comfortable in a larger church, but settled in a mid size (maybe 800 regular attenders or members) church because I didn't want to travel too far.

The real question here is are you looking for a black or white church.

We don't have a preference in racial minority...we are white but care more about what is being taught...

We are trying to stay West End and tried Mount Vernon Baptist but it wasn't as contemporary and as large as we had hoped.

Any suggested places to try appreciate!!

I heard about HOPE church in the Tuckahoe area? Anyone know about it?

We tried Mt. Vernon several times and had a similar experience (it's so convenient for us but it just never felt like "home"). We ended up settling down at Gayton Baptist. Might be too small for you (it might be smaller than Mt. Vernon, I'm not sure), but the middle service is contemporary and the music is wonderful. We did try Hope once but I can't exactly remember why we didn't go back. I have found it helpful to listen to sermons online before I decide what to try--helps me rule out places that I just don't feel will be a good fit.

Richmond COmmunity Church is pretty large. They have their main campus in Glen Allen and another somewhere in Richmond. The pastor is a pretty good speaker...

West End Assembly of God on Parham and Grove Avenue Baptist have large memberships.
