I've never hear of any issues with it.

Having radon is common in a lot of places -- what matters is abatement. Proper control is needed, then it is really a nonissue.

Glen Allen can have radon readings above the EPA recommendation of 4.0 pCi/L for remediation. I am a NRPP certified radon tester, I live in Glen Allen, and I have a walk-out basement which has had a radon monitor providing readings for a year. At times, my reading has been as high as 33.0 pCi/L but the average over a 9-week period has been a much better average of 4.2 pCi/L. I've also tested other homes within a mile of mine and they've had similar readings. Long-term testing is the best way to understand your exposure to radon in your home. You can buy inexpensive kits at home improvement stores and mail them in to a certified testing lab for results.
