Hi everyone!

Does Chesterfield county VA have any dangerous high violent crime neighborhoods or areas to avoid?

We are considering a move to The Richmond area. We are thinking safety for our children & teens.

Thank you
Have a great safe day to all

Chesterfield has never been a crime hot spot but no area, no matter how nice or even gated, is crime free. I tell people to look at property crime stats as this is what you are most likely to be a victim of. Violent crime happens in higher crime neighborhoods where drug sales are prevalent or things such as prostitution. But don't let the property crime stats scare you away either as it happens no matter where you are. Here is one site with some info.Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

I appreciate your response.

What is your opinion on Glen Allen? Safe? Clean area? Any big negatives?
Have a great safe day

At one time it was rated one of the safest areas in VA and I would imagine it still is. Nice area with lots of parks and so on. It is a suburb of Henrico, County.

Hopefully it’s still a nice safe area.
Thank you

Chesterfield: Nothing horrible, but if you are really concerned you'd want to avoid the areas up near Richmond Highway, and Down adjacent to Petersburg. That's it. And I'd have no hesitation living in either myself, aside from the fact that living anywhere in Chesterfield outside of say Bon Air would have me dying of boredom. I'll take the city every day

While i'll agree not moving by Petersburg I'll say that not everyone need a city and the stressful hustle and bustle of the place.

Do you live in Richmond? Do you mean you like Richmond the city?
How are the areas around the hospital VCU? I may need to go back to that hospital often for medical treatments.
Thank you
