My wife and I are new the Richmond area in the last 12 months. We came from Fredericksburg and have not established any type of Veterinary Doctor for our cat and dog.

Our dog seemed to injure his back left leg and needs emergency services. It is a Sunday evening and we think this is really serious. We also do not have much income and we are scared about what to do.

But I guess we also need places to take our pets eventually for regular treatment.

This is a very reputable diagnostic and emergency care center, just across the Henrico County line in Goochland.

Veterinary Referral & Critical Care
1596 Hockett Road
Manakin-Sabot, Virginia 23103
Phone: 804.784.VRCC (8722)
Fax: 804.784.1960

Their web site has a map and directions: Welcome to Veterinary Referral & Critical Care, Inc. (VRCC) - Veterinary Emergency Care, Internal Medicine and Surgery

They have state-of-the art equipment and are well-known in the area for great care.

Default Ps

The Goochland Referral & Critical Care hospital is not a "regular vet." It's a referral and emergency center only. Depending upon where you are in the West End, I can recommend:

Mark Gottschalk, DVM
Wellesley Animal Hospital
3460 Lauderdale Dr
Richmond, VA 23233
(804) 364-7030

(Off Lauderdale, near the main entrance to Short Pump Town Center)

OR

Lori Elliott, DVM
Shady Grove Animal Clinic
11399 Nuckols Rd
Glen Allen, VA 23059
(804) 421-7422

(Closer to Innsbrook/Wyndham, off I-295)

Best vet we've found has been Gayton Animal Hospital. Their veterinarians have been amazing. It is not a 24-hour location, but the staff is helpful, the prices are reasonable, and the veterinarians skilled. We have used them for over 8 years.
