If anyone has a picture of the block you live on, I was wondering if you could post it and list the area with it. This would really help me get a feel for what the streets are like in different areas, as I am trying to narrow the areas down that are contenders for where we will be moving to. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Google's street view is also useful for this. Especially when you're looking at specific neighborhoods or blocks where nobody here might live.

Best of luck.

Yeah, but that's tough when you're not sure where to start. I was just hoping to get a few pictures of different areas from some of the members on here and go from there.

There's a lot of pretty pictures on there, but not too many specific neighborhoods showcased. Looking for more of the streets and houses with the specific areas listed.

I lived on Hermitage, very near Bellevue, about 10 years ago, and I thought the Google Street View photos were pretty accurate. I now live WAY outside of the area. Really rural -- wouldn't help you at all. I just know lots of the regular Richmond forum posters don't live in the city.

Trying to be helpful. Nothing like a visit to help you vet neighborhoods, though, as each has its own personality.

Best of luck.

I very much do live in the city of Richmond actually, and not 'Henrico' but actually right here IN the city.

For OP a little more details please? What are you more into?? ..the housing architecture (older style vs new and modern 'cookie cutter' style?), neighborhood scenery, street layout, community diversity? there is a lot to consider.

Are you looking for something similar to this (http://tinyurl.com/3h3n3k - broken link) where you are given a neighborhood and various photos within each area of the neighborhood?? I will try to simulate the experience using some of the more well known neighborhoods with what you would typically see...

For the most part if you live in the DOWNTOWN portion of the city the majority of the homes will look like the above. I'm not sure if this is the style you're looking for or not. If so me and others can post more from other locations. You never said if you are looking in the city of Richmond itself or also the surrounding counties.

Those are some great pics. We're looking to be near the city, but not necessarily in the city. We wanted to move from Philly to get away from the extreme congestion and find a nice single house. Churchill and monument ave looked nice. We are tired of apartment living, and row homes, so definitely looking for a single house. A nice quiet block somewhere. But where we can drive to the action.

As far as housing style, I'm liking the older style, though we are a modern couple, I hate houses that all look the same. That's what we are used to here in NE philadelphia. I love tree lined blocks as far as scenery goes. Maybe where there are some parks around. Also looking for a back yard if possible. We are open to different cultures and life styles. Just looking to get somewhere where we can relax, where there aren't blaring motorcycles every ten minutes, 5 ice cream trucks with their screeching music every night, and neighbors that are rude and come onto your property without asking. Yes - Philly is getting old! haha
