Looking at this area of VA.. Much smaller cities in Northern VA are pulling in major restaraunts and retailers! I realize that they are close to the DC area but there are other areas in this US that are pulling in major restaraunts(brand) and major retailers. What do potential do u see in the Roanoke area and the Lynchburg Area? *I ask that you do not turn this forum to an argument over local retailers as restaraunts! I made this forum to get away from that.. If u disagree then please do not comment and carry on. thankyou*

Star City? Sizzler comes to mind. But what we really need is a traditional, NJ-style diner... preferably run by a Greek family.

I don't see it as missing any chain restaurants. Dave & Buster's would be fun though.

^There is a Carrabba's at Valley View.

One restaurant that's missing that a lot of people mention is Chili's. It doesn't really bother me personally, Applebee's or TGI Friday's seem to have similar food choices. The area is missing a lot of your more upscale stores and restaurants, but we do have a lot of great local choices. I wish we could pull in a Melting Pot or P.F. Chang's, though.

Penn Station (their subs are soooo good!!!)
Chili's
Qdoba Mexican Grill
Bamboo Garden (Indo-Chinese)
Cheesecake Factory
PF Chang's
Any fast food type restaurant that serves gyros/kabobs/mediterranean foods. The ones we already have are tasteless, not at all authentic & over priced compared to the ones in Raleigh/Northern VA.

Penn Station opened at Valley View recently in the shopping complex across from O'Charlies. Haven't been out there yet but it sounds good from the menu!

I think eventually Roanoke & Lynchburg will pull in more chain restaurants as these franchises grow. I would like to see Lynchburg with a nice seafood restaurant, even locally run. Bonefish Grill needs to locate around Tanglewood Mall, especially since the new Hilton Hotel will be ready soon as well as a nice steak house, although 419west is very good. Since the success of Cook Out, Steak n' Shake on Hershberger I can see more chains locating in that busy area. I have seen a sold sign on the corner lot already. I believe Lynchburg will build another big mall soon and we will see new chains not in the area. I would just like a nice casual cafe similar to Kathys' in Staunton. This place serves all day with an extensive menu.
