Hello,

My wife and I are coming for a quick, 2-day visit to Roanoke and would appreciate some advice from you locals. We are looking to stay possibly downtown where we can walk to breweries, restaurants, etc. and would like to know where exactly you recommend that would be SAFE to do so?

We are open to other areas besides downtown if walkable and safe with restaurants/brewery. We are open to hotel or AirB&B as well.

Our plan is to have some outdoor fun during the day then check out city stuff and food/beer in afternoon and early evenings.

Where should we stay?

Thanks!

There is the classic Hotel Roanoke. It was built in 1882 (never fear, it has been renovated since then) as a classic railroad destination hotel. Currently, it is being run as a joint project with Hilton, the City of Roanoke and Virginia Tech. It is a classic hotel in the grand style of the 19th century. There is a covered walkway over the railroad tracks in front of the hotel to the downtown restaurant district.

I really enjoy staying there, and it is particularly beautiful when it is decorated for the holidays.

Yes…either the Hotel Roanoke or the Hampton Inn downtown should work fine!
