If you are visiting Roanoke for a short visit I would suggest checking out this new rec center in North Roanoke County. The best part is that you don't have to join, you can visit for a day and enjoy indoor/outdoor swimming with splash park/lazy river for kids, huge exercise room with indoor track, basketball courts and tons of activities for kids. It is closeby to the airport, Hotels and restaurants. It is open year round. We're thinking about joining. We had been RAC members for the past few years, and even with my wife's Carilion employee discount, it was almost $90 a month. Plus, the RAC is always crowded.
