If you saw the list, which has a thread in the city vs. city forum in the General US forum, many of the cities on both the good and bad lists seem to be very random. That's not to discount the seriousness of crime in the city, but the list is interesting. //www.city-data.com/forum/city-...es-united.html
It is for places with 25,000 people or more. So, places like my mother's hometown in SC with 6,000 people, but with a crime rate supposedly higher than the rate in Syracuse according to this site, isn't included.

I'll be sure to take this list seriously..... Orlando is ranked as more dangerous. Better pack heat next time I go to Disney!
And New Haven is ranked far above Rochester. Those Yale students sure bring the ruckus.
What a joke.
I'll just stay away from the bad parts at night like Joseph Ave like I've always done and continue to be fine.

Don't think they're referring to DisneyWorld and the Yale campus ... Orlando is well known as not being safe in many areas and having a high crime rate and same with New Haven.

Yes and these areas are easily avoidable, just like the ones in Rochester. The majority of these cities listed are fine as a whole making the list a joke.
Doesn't every city have at least one rough area? Doesn't make the whole place a crap hole.
I grew up in town with like 10K people.....if that....even there was a rough neighborhood or two. It was always considered a very nice place to live. It's one of the top rated areas to live in the Capitol Region nowadays. Oh and it still has that rough area of town.
