Hi. I tried searching in the archives here, unsuccessful.

I am a nursing student who is wanting to be a RN in the birthing center, nursery, or nicu. I will be graduating in Spring 2013.

I am trying to find out early what each hospital offers their entry level nurses and what the benefits are like, and advancement opportunities are like.

Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You're probably not going to find that info here FYI. Do you go to school here? Your best regardless is to ask someone at your school who works with post-college employment.

Lakeside is downsizing and cutting services, but they haven't shut down.

A couple friends of mine work for Unity as RN's - from what I've heard they pay a little bit more. Strong likes to say that their benefits are "better" and that would out-weigh the slightly difference in pay, but they've changed so much over the past few years that I'm not so sure that's true anymore. I'd avoid Lakeside, they're significantly downsizing. Good luck!

Interesting topic. My wife and I are moving back to the Rochester area. I just retired from the University of Illinois. My wife is 57 and has been a practicing hospital nurse for 30 plus years. She has work med surgical, cardiac, intensive care, cancer floors, etc. She even worked for a couple of year at Strong in Rochester. I was wondering if she would have difficulty finding a nursing position in the Rochester area because of age. She is highly skilled and hard working nurse with lots of experience. Looking forward to reading any replies this post may elicit. Thanks in advance.

I work in the HR department of a nursing home in the area...While I can't speak for the hospitals, I know we are growing and we're always looking for nurses. I also can't provide you with our salary information, but I think you'll be fine finding a job.
