Hi, I am about to stay in Rochester for several months. I am checking some places around Genese Street and Columbia Ave., on the west bank of Genese river. Is there safe for a short term living? Is that convenient to commute from there to the downtown everyday? How is it in the rush hour on the bridge?

Thanks in advance!

Genesee is generally a rough area, although down by Arvine Heights and in that general area it's quiet, with some students and frat and sorority houses related to the UofR.

The bridge can be bad during rush hour, because of all of the traffic and construction along Elmwood.

Easy commute to downtown, though, right up Plymouth, or you could go up Exchange from Ford.

Thanks a lot Howard. I do see some UofR students living on the west bank. Not sure what they are feeling about that area.
