Well, we just wrapped up another successful Jazz Festival. I was just wondering how cool it would be if they could expand and have festivals of other genres too. Kind of make Rochester the go to place for music fests year round.
Music and the Arts are known to be good for creative cities in the new economy. Rochester already is known for this. Let's grow what is already a success. What do you guys think?
I was thinking something very similar the other day. If you think about it, The success of the Fringe Festival is kind of the transformation into exactly what you are proposing. Rochester has proven its very capable of putting on huge festivals with both the Lilac Festival and the Jazz Fest. We should be creating and promoting these festivals around the world.
I've always felt that there are 3 vacation things Rochester doesn't promote itself well enough on. It's festivals which can easily be a vacation for people all over. It's very family friendly attractions such as The Strong, Seabreeze, Seneca Park Zoo, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Roseland Water Park, Charlotte Beach and Kershaw Beach in Canandaigua. And finally, it's very deep history and historical significance with Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglas, The Erie Canal, George Eastman, Native American history etc.
