I haven't been downtown in awhile but drove there today. Inside the inter-loop there were several obvious larger red light cameras with flashing blue lights on them, but on the way to the inter-loop around streets such as east ave, university ave and atlantic ave at almost every intersection they had small cameras, some that looked like webcams and others small globe cameras like they have on the ceiling of wegmans. Are these red light cameras too or for security/traffic conditions?

There are 2 law enforcement types of cameras. Red light cameras at intersections and RPD cameras used by the crime center. The RPD cameras usually have the RPD box around them. But both sets of cameras also have a blue light. The other cameras you see are traffic monitoring, control..etc So basically if the camera doesn't have the blue light, it can't get you in trouble

Many blue light cameras aren't red light cams, they're for police surveillance. For a map of the red light cameras in the city, look here: City of Rochester | Red Light Camera Traffic Safety Program

What's odd is my garmin GPS makes a sound when I pass by a red light camera and it made that sound at every intersection there was a small camera, which was alot of them.
