Canandaigua and Victor are right next to each other. Canandaigua is a (small) city and Victor is a town. Both have amazing schools- highly ranked, good education and respectufl kids (I did my student teaching in Victor). Victor has the most popular mall in Rochester... Eastview (top notch stores) and a quaint village with some specialty shops and a few dining establishments... there is a Wades Market for close shopping (but a lot of people in Victor choose to head to Perinton to go to Wegmans- about 15 min depending on where you are) Canandaigua has a much larger city center, some big box stores, a Wegmans, the lake, much more dining... there is more to do in the town itself. Both are very close to I-90 and that will get you into Rt 490/Rt 390/Rt 590 easily with only a small toll. It all depends on what you are looking for and how close you actually want to be to downtown Rochester (if that is even a factor)... Both are lovely. Victor is actually at the end of Rt 490 and that will get you into the city easily.
