Hey all,

I was just curious if anyone has information regarding the quality of education at some of the area private schools? My girlfriend would like to send her son (starting Kindergarten) to one of them and we'd appreciate any input you might have.

We're currently looking at the following:

Allendale Columbia

Charles Finney School (http://finneyschool.org/index.html - broken link)

They're currently residents of East Irondequoit, and have a very limited income (looking for grants/scholarships).

Wish I could help you out. I know of no one who sends their kids to a private school, besides Catholic Schools (please all you negative folks, don't go off on a rampant about those schools closing please, this is not the intent of this thread).

I think most people in this area are very pleased with their local public school districts. I know I am. Therefore, why spend thousands of dollars putting your child in a private school? Just my opinion.

While I do agree that public schools are typically a good option (with the exception of the RCSD, no WAY would I put my kid in there... I have several friends that attended the RCSD schools and have never even heard of classics like "The Odyssey" or "Catcher in the Rye") my girlfriend would like to send him to private school, so I'd at least like to investigate the options to make an educated decision.

Allendale Columbia is a great school. Don't know much about the other one. If you can get your kids into Allendale, do it.
