Apple has just announced that they are going to build a new campus, with very few details. You would think that they may be looking at other cities, like Amazon. I think this would automatically put Rochester, currently rated in the top 10 by some, automatically in the running.

I saw that too...I dare say, Apple may be worth going after, but it will be interesting to see what their criteria will be.

Having RIT here would be a huge boost, I would imagine.

Well if you're title is referring to the fact that Rochester is officially out of the running, then maybe.

In all seriousness, if they're doing a similar contest, we should definitely put in a bid. I was under the impression that their new campus would also be in Silicon Valley, but it can't hurt to try.

It appears that most of the jobs are going to be data center/tech support jobs. So, wages for these jobs will be lower than those for Amazon jobs.

Would that really be a bad thing? Even if they are lower skilled, we have plenty of unemployed low skill people here. Not to mention, as with the Amazon bid, opened the eyes of other high tech employers.

Good points and it could lead to other development from Apple or similar companies in the area.

Interesting! If Apple is open to bids like Amazon was for its HQ2, Rochester should not try to team with Buffalo like it did for its Amazon bid.

Hopefully the powers that be got some feedback from Amazon on why we did not get picked. Maybe that can help us put in a more competitive bid in the future.

Every fairly large city has one ore more large universities. RIT and University of Rochester are nothing special and would not sway the decision in the slightest.
